Every year on the 21st July, we commemorate Racial Harmony Day. From our Social Studies lessons, you have learnt about the Maria Hertogh racial riots in the past and how it impacts the people negatively. Hence we must not take our current peace for granted. Always be sensitive to the differences and respect others.
On Wednesday, we had many presentations done by the Primary 4 pupils during assembly and if you paid attention, you would have learnt a lot more about the cultures and traditions of different races in Singapore. We also discussed more about the Muslim cultures in class, I hope next time you all will be more aware of what Halal food actually means.
During recess, stores also sold traditional dishes different from the usual canteen fare such as Rojak, Muah Chee, Nasi Briyani. I personally thought that the carrot cake was very delicious!
Here are some of our classmates who dressed up for the occasion! It is nice to see you all join in to liven up the celebrations even though it was quite warm in the long-sleeved costumes.
I would also like to thank the parents of Chloe, Dylan, Joni, Nicholas and Ethan who took out their precious time and came down to school to help with the selling of the Kachang Puteh and biscuits. This stall is always a highlight for the pupils every year and what's more, this year the proceeds will go towards helping to raise funds for the school upgrading project. Thank you for your support to the school and our children! =)
Yours Sincerely,
Miss Chan
